I am sure many of you may not agree with the subject of the October 18, 2025 "No Kings" rallies but I am also sure you agree that I and other participants have the right to protest under the First Amendment of our Constitution. As did the Trump Truck Parade (4 trucks) and the 6 men across the street in an opposition protest with one man carrying an AR-15...

Observations

At the start time of the protest, all participants were asked to gather at the gazebo to go over safety rules. We were told that there would be the potential of people wanting to agitate and/or get a rise out of us through their actions. We were told not to engage as it would defeat the purpose of our peaceful gathering.

This is what I observed and experienced:

• There was a man going though the crowd asking where we were from. I told him my hometown (which is within 20 miles of the protest location) and he had no idea where that was. I thought it odd at the time but maybe he was trying to see how many protesters were brought in for the outside, that the crowd could not be as large as it was with just people from a small town in the Hill Country.

• The crowd was full of Anti-facists (ANTIFA). They were veterans who fought facism in World War II holding signs "I fought facism in 1944, why am I fighting it again in 2025". There were descendants of veterans who made the ultimate sacrifice, wondering why their relative gave their lives only to see our country heading quickly towards authoritarianism.

• The Trump truck parade passed by multiple times with their flags flying, motors reving and fingers flipping. They called us bitches and whores even as some of their kids sunk deeper into their seats, although there were kids who were emulating their parents behavior as active participants...

• And it was not only the Trump Trucks, many cars came by yelling and flipping us off, young men to middle-aged women and men, to some I am sure were grandparents. They all seemed to be filming us with their phones, for what reason I have no idea...

I spent the morning blowing kisses to all that passed...
